# La Liga duo face uphill battle to land Newcastle forward this summer

La Liga duo Real Betis and Villarreal are keeping tabs on Newcastle attacker Ayoze Perez, according to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5613243/Newcastle-forward-Ayoze-Perez-ignore-overtures-return-Spain.html#ixzz5CaeWXE00).

The report claims that the Spanish duo are considering a summer move for the forward who has impressed in recent weeks.

However, the forward has told Spanish radio station Club Deportivo that he sees his future in the Premier League.

> My priority is to keep playing in the Premier League and if it’s to take a step forward in my career then even better. I’m happy at Newcastle but I don’t know what will happen in the summer. I’ve been here four years and that is a long time.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong second half of the season, coming into his own in 2018.

The forward has scored two goals in as many games, all-but securing Newcastle’s position in the Premier League this season.

Since joining the club from Tenerife, Perez has often been linked with big-money moves away from the club. A lot was expected of the young Spaniard when he joined the club.

Tottenham failed with a move for the player in 2016 and Perez opted to stay with the Magpies during their brief stint in the Championship.
