Newcastle player ratings: Leicester (A)

Newcastle practically secured survival in the Premier League this afternoon after beating Leicester City 2-1 at the King Power Stadium.

The Magpies took their points tally to 38, which should keep them in the Premier League on their first season back in the top flight.

Jonjo Shelvey put the Toon in front in the first half, putting a shot outside the area past Kasper Schmeichel to make the score 1-0.

Leicester appealed for a penalty just before the break, but it was not given.

Newcastle would then double their lead with 15 minutes to go, with Ayoze Perez lobbing Schmeichel to double Newcastle’s lead, and put them well on their way to survival.

Jamie Vardy would get a goal for the hosts, but the foxes were unable to get an equaliser against Newcastle.

With Newcastle’s safety practically assured, we rate the players after a crucial win in the East Midlands for Rafa Bentiez’s side.
