# Newcastle to make another move for Eredivisie striker in the summer

Newcastle United are set to go back in for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen this summer, according to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastles-rafa-benitez-targeted-return-12297722).

The Magpies were desperate to land the Denmark international in the January transfer window but were unable to close a deal with Feyenoord due to differences over the player’s valuation.

This saw Newcastle move away from Jorgensen and recruit Islam Slimani from Leicester City on loan, as Rafa Benitez was desperate to bolster his attacking options.

However, with Slimani failing to hit the ground running due to injuries since his arrival, it seems the Magpies remain keen to land Jorgensen and will revisit their pursuit in the summer.

Jorgensen is a key player for Feyenoord and if reports are to be believed, the Dutch club will demand a sum in the region of £18m for their striker.

Rafa Benitez will be desperate to have sufficient transfer funds available to him in the summer after a frustrating period in recent transfer windows, with Jorgensen evidently still a target.
