According to a report from the Mirror, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is a summer target for Real Sociedad.
The Spaniard is being lined up for a return to his homeland, with Sociedad keen to tempt the ex-Liverpool boss away from St James’ Park at the end of the season.
Benitez’s position at Newcastle has often come under scrutiny due to the club’s apparent inability to provide him with sufficient transfer funds. However, he has often reiterated his happiness at the club and those associated with the Magpies will hope that a move to Sociedad isn’t a tempting proposition.
The former Napoli manager has enjoyed a strong season with Newcastle after a difficult run, with his side now some way off the relegation zone.
Benitez, 57, remains an admired manager in European football and his impressive work with Newcastle has clearly not gone unnoticed, as Sociedad target a summer move.
Having signed a three-year deal with the club back in May 2016, Benitez’s contract expires at the end of next season.
