Lascelles remains confident Newcastle will survive

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles remains confident that his side can avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Magpies let a two-goal lead slip on Saturday away at Bournemouth, with the game finishing 2-2, despite leading the hosts earlier in the match.

Lascelles has played a key part in his side’s season featuring in 25 games so far and he’ll be a key element if they are to remain in the league this season.

He has netted three goals so far this term and his impressive performances have even led to talk that he could be involved in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

Having been promoted last seasons it’s vital that they retain their Premier League status, just two points separate the Magpies from the drop zone.

The Newcastle captain spoke about his side’s league position.

Things have been really going well so we are going to try and keep it that way. At the minute we are playing really good football.

We wish we were in a better position than we are but there are still 10 games left and the way we are playing I think we are going to be more than safe.
