Lack of experience could cost Newcastle says Benitez

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez says a lack of experience in his squad could cost them their place in the Premier League.

As per a report from the Telegraph, Benitez admits that he needs his squad to make smarter decisions in key moments after they let a two-goal lead slip at Bournemouth.

You have to keep going until the game ends but you have to stay calm and make the right decisions. This is what can happen when you play at this level against very good players. Our team is a young team and we need a bit more experience to manage situations like this.

Dwight Gayle had put the visitors in front during the first half when he tapped the ball home from close range.

The former Crystal Palace striker scored his second of the game when he pounced on Bournemouth’s poor defending from a corner, doubling United’s lead.

A lacklustre second half from Newcastle allowed Bournemouth back in the game.

Adam Smith and former Magpies midfielder Dan Gosling both scored in the last 10 minutes to seal a point.
