Islam Slimani is yet to make his debut at Newcastle and it seems his bow has been delayed further by another injury setback.
As reported by ESPN, Magpies boss Rafa Benitez confirmed that the Algerian international will not be available for the team’s trip down south as they gear up to face Bournemouth on Saturday.
Slimani had a set-back the other day, so he will not be available. It will at least be a couple of weeks. We have to be careful with him because he had a problem when he arrived.
Slimani saw first-team game time limited at Leicester City this season and hoped that he would hit the ground running at St James’ Park. However, as a result of injury woes, he has not been able to take to the field with his new side yet.

Newcastle have found form in front of goal hard to come by this season and hoped that the addition of Slimani would remedy this problem. However, the 29-year-old has been left frustrated by yet another setback.
We worked really hard to try to bring players in to give us something different in the Premier League. We knew he was carrying a small injury. Everyone was expecting him to make the difference, but after the game against Manchester United, we at least feel we have enough quality in the squad. Hopefully he will still help us in the next games.
The Magpies remain at risk of relegation this season and will be desperate to have the ex-Sporting CP striker available to them in the final stretch of the campaign.
