# Newcastle receive boost in pursuit of Garry Rodrigues

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues for some time now and it seems they are in with a good chance of landing him this summer.

The Magpies are said to have made a derisory offer for the Cape Verde international in the January transfer window but this does not appear to have deterred them.

Rodrigues is a key player for Galatasaray and is understood to be held in high regard by manager Fatih Terim. The player himself has since claimed that it will take an offer upwards of €15 million to convince the Turkish side to sell in the near future, which could be detrimental to Newcastle’s hopes of landing him given their financial restrictions.

Although, according to Turkish news outlet [Fotomac](https://www.fotomac.com.tr/galatasaray/2018/02/19/newcastle-pesini-birakmiyor), Rodrigues is keen on the move to Newcastle. It’s stated that the winger is open to a move away from Galatasaray and St James’ Park is touted as the preferred destination.

The Magpies are rumoured to be preparing a £10 million bid for Rodrigues in the summer transfer window. Whether that will be a sufficient total for Galatasaray to accept, though, remains to be seen.
