Feyenoord keen to receive significant fee for Magpies target

Feyenoord believe that they will be able to get more money for Newcastle’s January target Nicolai Jorgensen, with the forward set to depart in the summer, according to Dutch news outlet Algemeen Dagblad (via Inside Futbol).

The Danish striker has been largely touted as Newcastle’s top target for the summer’s market but Newcastle will likely be forced to match the €25 million price tag.

27-year-old Jorgensen has accepted the club’s stance and respects the decision to have kept him in January, but his performance in his last match for Feyenoord prompted calls that he wasn’t as committed as he should be.

The club feel that if they are to sell the player in the summer, they will receive a much greater fee from the Magpies, if they continue to pursue Jorgensen’s services.

Danish international Jorgensen will be in his nation’s World Cup squad barring any problems and his current club are hoping he performs well at the tournament to enable them to command a higher fee.

The Premier League side are still keen to bring the player in but are thought to only be prepared to move to him should they retain their top flight status this season.
