Benitez delivers update on key defender’s injury

Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark picked up what looked like a serious injury and will be assessed following today’s game at Crystal Palace, Rafa Benitez has confirmed, as reported by the Shields Gazette.

The Magpies picked up a solid result on the road as they drew with Crystal Palace 1-1 at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.

Following the point, Newcastle moved up to 16th in the table and one point above the dreaded drop zone.

Clark is a vital player to the team so everyone at the club will be desperate that the injury isn’t too serious and that he is back playing soon.

Clark was at fault for the penalty which was conceded to allow Palace back into the game but he has been a key player for Benitez this season.

The boss spoke about the situation of Clark’s injury following the game.

He took a blow to the knee, but I think it’s too early for me to say. We have to wait and see, but I don’t see it as a big issue.
