Telegraph journalist Jason Burt is reporting that Slimani will sign for Newcastle on a deal until the end of the season.

Slimani will replace Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is set to sign for Belgian outfit Anderlecht on loan, with Rafa Benitez wanting to revamp his striking options.

The report claims that Newcastle will pay a £2m loan fee for Slimani, though it does not mention whether there will be a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

Slimani has struggled to break into the Leicester team this season and will now look to fire Newcastle to safety and prove that he still has what it takes to score goals in the Premier League.
