Newcastle United have long been linked with a move for Senegalese midfielder Papa Badou Ndiaye and it seems they are keen to land him in the ongoing transfer window.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez remains interested in the powerful midfielder, who is currently plying his trade out in Turkey with Galatasaray.
Ndiaye is stated in the report to have an £18 million buyout clause inserted in his current contract at the Super Lig outfit, which is sure to be an unrealistic price to pay for the Magpies. However, the Daily Mail claim that Galatasaray will only sanction the player’s sale if his release clause is met this month.
Benitez is hopeful that he can land some new signings in the ongoing transfer window but has had no such luck just yet.
Funds are currently limited and with Mike Ashley confirming that the proposed takeover from Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners has fallen through, it seems Benitez will be left frustrated in his pursuit of Ndiaye.
