[According to Football London,](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/shelvey-west-ham-transfer-newcastle-14129935) West Ham are closing in on an agreement to sign the midfielder during the transfer window.

The report claims that West Ham are looking to conclude a £12m deal for Shelvey as they look to bolster their midfield options.

West Ham are, however, keeping their options open and have a list of targets they can pursue if a deal for Shelvey breaks down.

[Watford](https://readwatford.com/)’s Etienne Capoue, Stoke’s Joe Allen and Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker are all thought to be of interest to West Ham.

Shelvey, formerly of [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/), is known for his excellent array of passing in the middle of the park.

West Ham manager David Moyes believes Shelvey will improve his squad and is insistent on a deal to sign him.

[Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/) will put up a fight to keep Shelvey, as they look to avoid bolstering a rival.
