Newcastle join Everton in race to sign Joe Bryan

Both Newcastle and Everton are interested in signing Bristol City defender Joe Bryan, according to reports.

The 24-year-old left-back has been excellent for the Robins this season, scoring three goals and getting two assists as they’ve established themselves as genuine promotion candidates.

Bryan has been with City since he was a schoolboy and is enjoying life representing his hometown club, but the idea of playing Premier League football could appeal to him.

At this stage, it seems unlikely that the Robins would be willing to let him leave as he is a key member of their promotion-chasing side and a deal in the summer would look more likely.

Left-back has been a problem area for both the Magpies and the Toffees this season so it is little surprise to see both clubs being linked with a move for Bryan, who many observers class as one of the best prospects in the Championship.

However, it would take a huge bid to even get Bristol City considering a sale, so time will tell how this one pans out.
