Newcastle making surprise David Luiz move

With the future of Chelsea defender David Luiz remaining in the air Newcastle have emerged as a potential destination for the player as reported by Shields Gazette.

There has been much speculation over his future after falling out with his manager Antonio Conte.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez spoke about the prospect of bringing in a central defender.

There are not too many options with Premier League experience, with the maximum level and the right personality, so it’s not easy.

There is sure to be a lot of interest in the Brazilian international and Newcastle will have to really go out of their way to attract the player to St James Park in a loan deal next month.

The only thing which could interest the Chelsea star in joining the Magpies is that he has a very strong relationship with their manager Benitez after the pair worked together at Chelsea in Luiz’s first spell.

Luiz has a real sense of versatility as he can play in both central defence and also in midfield and would be a brilliant addition for the North-east club.

Chelsea boss has a number of options in central defence and has high hopes for Danish international Andreas Christensen.

I don’t know. Andreas Christensen is the present and the future for Chelsea.

Newcastle are struggling in the league after picking up just one point in nine games and are looking to bolster their defensive options in January.

Benitez spoke about the prospect of signings in January.

We have to try to bring the best players possible for us now. That means if you have a player on loan who’s quite good now, then we have to do it.

There are not too many options with Premier League experience, with the maximum level and the right personality, so it’s not easy. But you have to do your research everywhere.
