Amanda Staveley’s takeover of Newcastle in doubt

Amanda Staveley’s takeover talks with current Newcastle owner Mike Ashley have reached a stalemate, which could result in the deal falling through, according to a report from the Telegraph.

Staveley had a reported offer of £250 million turned down by Ashley over two weeks ago, and has yet to return with an improved offer, putting a potential deal at risk.

Ashley has been on record saying that if a buyer isn’t found before Christmas, then he will take the club off the market and refuse to sell.

However, inside sources from the club have stated that Ashley would listen to an offer of £300 million up front, and not in instalments as Staveley previously offered, something the American is believed to be unsure about.

Staveley, 44, would be the face of Newcastle United and make the key spending decisions around the club if she manages to take over the reigns from Ashley.
