Besiktas keen on Newcastle striker in Tosun deal

Newcastle United’s interest in Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has been well documented for some time now.

The Magpies are keen to land new reinforcements in the January transfer window and have identified Tosun as a player who would improve their attacking ranks. They have, however, reportedly been priced out of a move for the Turkish international.

Tosun has been in superb form this season for Besiktas, both in the Super Lig and in the Champions League. However, discussions have taken place regarding his future and Besiktas could be persuaded if a lucrative package is on offer.

The Turkish club are evidently open to negotiating a move away for their star striker and according to Futbol Arena, would like to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic from Newcastle in a part-exchange deal.

It’s stated in the report that the Super Lig giants hold a keen interest in Mitrovic, with the Serbian international having struggled for game time under Rafa Benitez this season.

The Magpies are already short of attacking options and while they are keen on Tosun, they will surely be hoping to retain their strikers ahead of what promises to be a difficult second half of the season. The report does claim, however, that talks over a part-exchange deal have already been held.

It’s stated that Besiktas are holding out for an additional fee of €7 million along with Mitrovic if Newcastle are to lure Tosun away.

The impressive striker has been linked with Crystal Palace in recent times, along with Everton and Tottenham, but Newcastle appear to be most keen on securing Tosun’s services.
