Newcastle preparing loan offer for Luke Shaw

Newcastle United are preparing a loan offer for out-of-favour Manchester United defender Luke Shaw.

The Mirror reports that Rafa Benitez wants to hand the youngster a route out of Old Trafford to get his career back on track.

Injuries have held Shaw back at Manchester United as he fails to convince Jose Mourinho.

Shaw has been unable to hold down a regular place in the United squad since Mourinho’s arrival at the club and has attracted plenty of interest from other Premier League sides.

Newcastle themselves are desperate for reinforcement when the January window opens as they fight to stay in the Premier League.

Shaw would represent a dramatic improvement for Newcastle, with the left-back berth being something of a problem position for Benitez this season.

Tottenham have held a long-standing interest in the player and could move for Shaw if Danny Rose is sold in January, as Manchester United themselves ponder a move for the England international.
