Amanda Staveley makes £300m bid to take over Newcastle

Newcastle United appear to be edging ever closer to being taken over by Amanda Staveley.

According to Sky Sports, Mike Ashley has received a bid worth £300 million from the British businesswoman, who is keen to take full control at St James’ Park.

Ashley put the club up for sale only last month but interest has been strong in Newcastle. It looks as though Staveley is now the front-runner in the race to take over the Magpies.

Staveley is the owner of PCP Capital Partners and has several links with Middle Eastern investors.

It seems PCP Capital Partners are the only company to have pressed ahead and made a concrete offer for Newcastle, with a period of exclusivity set to be awarded in the imminent future.

Staveley attended a Newcastle game earlier on in this season and is understood to have had an interest in taking over the club for some months now.
