# Newcastle’s Lejeune wants an apology from Harry Kane

Newcastle’s summer signing Florian Lejeune says he expected an apology from Spurs’ striker Harry Kane after a horror tackle on the defender during his debut on the opening day of the season.

As reported by the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/660841/Newcastle-Tottenham-Man-Utd-Florian-Lejeune-Harry-Kane-Rafa-Benitez-Jose-Mourinho-debut), Lejeune believes Kane should have seen red for a tackle that left the Frenchman with ligament damage.

Newcastle lost the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies, but Kane’s tackle went unpunished.

The defender was sidelined for several weeks off the back of the injury but has recently worked his way back into Rafa Benitez’s side.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to Old Trafford, the former Eibar man was quizzed about his debut for Newcastle.

> At first I was angry. We all make mistakes, we all commit fouls but I think an apology would have been good, especially from such a great player, the England captain.

The former Manchester City defender joined the club this summer from La Liga side Eibar for a fee thought to be around £9 million.
