The agent of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro has played down rumours that his client could move to Newcastle United, despite the Italian not being a guaranteed starter for the Serie A champions.
According to the Chronicle, the 24-year-old central midfielder has been linked with a move to Tyneside, but talk of a move was rejected by Magpies club sources in the summer, with a €20 million price tag thought to be too much by the Newcastle United hierarchy.

Sturaro’s agent has put any thought of a move into further doubt now too, saying:
It is a pleasure for Stefano to be sought after by Italy and abroad during every transfer window. In the Premier League, for example, attentions always come from teams like Everton and Newcastle,
But honestly, everything is very premature, he is thinking of continuing to do well with Juventus.
Sturaro came through the youth system at Genoa, breaking into their first team during the 2013-14 season, and making 31 appearances over two campaigns before a move to Juventus materialised in 2014.

The Italian champions signed him for a fee of €5.5 million plus a further €5.5 million in add-ons.
Since then, he has made 77 appearances for The Old Lady, scoring three goals.
His agent stressed that he is keen to stay at the club (paraphrased in translation):
He wants to enter the third year of his contract with the club.
He isn’t phased by the competition [for places], instead he sees his team mates as his comrades and will always give his all when he is selected.
After these comments, it seems unlikely that Sturaro will swap his Juventus shirt for the black and white of Newcastle United, but stranger things have happened in football…
