Newcastle United are reportedly ready to go toe to toe with Arsenal over Paraguay international Miguel Almiron.
It’s claimed by Italian news outlet Calciomercato that the Magpies are the latest side to join the race for the creative midfielder, who has been catching the eye in recent times.
Almiron is currently plying his trade out in America with Atlanta United, but is attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe off the back of some impressive performances for his side.
The 23-year-old has been in good form this season, and has played 30 games for Atlanta. In this spell, he has accumulated an impressive total of nine goals from midfield, and has also set his teammates up on eight occasions.
Newcastle have been linked with several attacking midfielders recently, most commonly Dennis Praet of Sampdoria, but Almiron certainly looks to be a player who would add inventiveness to the ranks for Rafa Benitez.
