Peru national goalkeeper Pedro Gallese could well be on his way to St James Park, with Magpies legend Nolberto Solano recommending the club to monitor the goalkeeper’s situation, according to Libero.
The 27-year-old who applies his trade for Veracruz in the Mexico Premier Divison has been linked with a move to Newcastle before. With stories about the goalkeeper making the move resurfacing again, the player’s representative Christian Lagrotta has admitted that the stories may hold some substance.
When asked about Gallese’s future and specifically a move to the Premier League, Lagrotta toldRadio Ovacion the following:
The dream of Pedro Gallese is to play in the Premier League and he’s working to see if it’s fulfilled. We started to work hard, both us and Veracruz are also interested in a possible sale of Pedro with the level shown. I hope we can achieve something.

Gallese has 32 caps for Peru and is thought of highly in Mexico’s top division, and manager Rafa Benitez may see Gallese as a possible replacement for current number one Rob Elliot in January.
However, Benitez may not decide to pursue the keeper as his side have been solid at the back on their return to the top flight, keeping three clean sheets in nine games. During that time they have only conceded eight goals, with Elliot impressing in goal.
