Newcastle were heavily linked with a move for Saint-Etienne attacker Jonathan Bamba throughout the summer.
The Magpies were cited with interest in the young forward, who has been catching the eye of several clubs across Europe with some glittering performances in Ligue 1.
Saint-Etienne managed to keep hold of one of their most promising youngsters in the summer, but according to a report from But out in France, as cited by Le10 Sport, Newcastle remain keen to land the prospect.

The 21-year-old’s future is largely in his own hands. His contract at Saint-Etienne expires at the end of the season, and he’ll be allowed to discuss a move away from his homeland when the January transfer window opens ahead of next season.
However, while there remains a possibility that he will extend his stay with the Ligue 1 club, Newcastle are joined in their interest by La Liga side Sevilla and Saint-Etienne’s fellow French top flight competitors Lille.
