Newcastle have to meet €25m Praet price
Newcastle will have to match Dennis Praet’s release clause if they want to sign him in January.
According to Calcio Mercato, Newcastle had previously offered €20m for the midfielder, but Sampdoria were unwilling to sell for that price.
Praet has a €25m release clause in his contract, which would give Sampdoria no choice in the matter if Newcastle were to match it.
The report claims that Sampdoria will reject any offer below that, as they want to keep hold of the Belgian.
Teams from the Bundesliga and Serie A are also said to be interested in Praet, although no specific clubs are mentioned.
Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the attacking midfield and is keen to add him to his squad in the January transfer window.
Newcastle are aiming to stay in the Premier League this season after they won the Championship last campaign.
They have already been linked with a number of players ahead of the January transfer window.
