Newcastle attracting interest from foreign investors

Newcastle United have been attracting interest from China, USA and the Middle East, with various different business-people wanting to invest in the North-East club.

The Chronicle understands that Mike Ashley is open to receiving offers from different potential investors, but no firm bid has been made as of yet.

The latest interested party takes the form of financer Amanda Staveley, who has strong links in the Middle East. But despite her attendance in Sunday’s 1-1 home draw against Liverpool, no contact has been made with Ashley.

However, her visit to St James’ Park has reportedly been played down, with Newcastle officials insisting she was there as a guest of honour with former Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.

It is believed that Mike Ashley is looking for a fee in the region of £380 million for the club, with several investors keeping tabs on the situation.

Newcastle sit ninth in the Premier League, after seven games played.
