Newcastle reportedly had a bid worth £6 million turned down for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues in the summer transfer window.
According to Futbol Arena, as cited by Turkish Football today, the Magpies made efforts to land the Cape Verde international as they looked to bolster their depth out wide. However, their efforts were knocked back by Galatasaray.
It’s claimed, though, that Newcastle will return for Rodrigues when the transfer window reopens in January, with Rafa Benitez still looking to add to his squad.
Newcastle are still keeping an eye on Rodrigues too, Turkish Football reports. It’s claimed that the Magpies sent representatives to watch the winger in action for Galatasaray recently as they defeated Osmanlispor 3-1.
The 26-year-old wide man is valued well in excess of the initial £6m by Galatasaray, but the report does insist that the Turkish giants would consider selling Rodrigues.
The former Elche and PAOK star has already contributed with three assists so far this season.
