Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune is a doubt ahead of the Magpies’ clash against Brighton on Sunday.
Rafa Benitez addressed the media today as he looks ahead to his side’s important encounter with the Seagulls, but was coy when quizzed on his side’s fitness.
Lejeune has been out since Newcastle’s first game of the season. He was playing well against Tottenham before a rash challenge from Spurs striker Harry Kane left him with an ankle injury.
The defender, who Newcastle signed from Eibar in the summer transfer window, is yet to properly recover from the knock, and remains doubtful for the Brighton game.
As quoted by the Newcastle Chronicle, Benitez delivered an update on the condition of Lejeune when discussing his squad’s injury situation.
It’s more or less the same situation with injuries. Lejeune is still having treatment and Haidara and Dummett are not available.
The Magpies are currently enjoying a good run of form, having secured three consecutive wins against West Ham, Swansea and most recently Stoke.
They’ll now look to put Brighton to the sword on Sunday afternoon.
