Brighton and Hove Albion have made their loan signing of Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul into a permanent one as the Dutch shot-stopper ends his 12-year stay at St James’ Park, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
The move means that the goalkeeper is now available for selection for Chris Hughton against the Magpies this weekend.
Brighton’s official statement said: “We have converted goalkeeper Tim Krul’s loan from Newcastle United to a permanent one-year deal.
“The Dutch international initially arrived on a season-long loan last month, but has now signed a one-year contract.”

Krul was a fan favourite at Newcastle and made his debut for his new club in the Carabao Cup defeat to AFC Bournemouth last night.
The goalkeeper will add experience to the goalkeeping department at Brighton and will be a big figure for the club in the dressing room after spending several years in the top flight.
Krul was expected to leave permanently during the transfer window but only made the loan move, which has pretty quickly been upgraded. Hughton will be delighted to add Krul and was impressed by what he saw from the shot-stopped on his debut.
“I felt he was very good and very assured. Some of the saves that he made weren’t very difficult, but he needed to show good hands. Overall, it was a very assured performance,” said the Brighton manager.
