Brighton have officially secured the signing of Tim Krul from Newcastle United on a season-long loan.

The Dutchman will make his return to English football as he looks to aid Chris Hughton in his efforts to keep the Seagulls up in their maiden Premier League season.

Krul was deemed surplus to requirements at St James’ Park, with the likes of Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow both ahead of him in the pecking order.

Formerly a fan favourite at Newcastle, injuries and inconsistency hindered Krul’s recent years and this saw him shipped out to AZ Alkmaar in his homeland of Holland last season.

He’ll now look to enjoy a successful season at Newcastle’s fellow survival battlers Brighton.
