Fulham have reportedly made a surprise swoop for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.
It’s claimed by French news outlet RMC Sport that the Cottagers have lodged a bid worth €16 million for the experienced striker, who is set to be offloaded in the final days of the window.

Fulham are keen to bolster their attacking reinforcements ahead of the rest of the season, and it looks as though former Crystal Palace striker Gayle is a man high up on Slavisa Jokanovic’s wish list.

The deal would go down as Fulham’s most expensive transfer in the club’s history, which bodes well too for Newcastle, who are looking to free up funds to secure more signings before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday night.
Gayle was Newcastle’s top scorer in the Championship last season, but appears to be surplus to requirements now.
