# Newcastle reportedly prepared to offload Gayle

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to offload striker Dwight Gayle.

It’s claimed by the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4827114/Newcastle-United-sell-Dwight-Gayle.html) that the Magpies are looking to free up some funds as they look to make some late summer business. To do this, however, they reportedly believe that they must sell before they buy, and Gayle may be a victim of this.

The experienced forward has been a big hit since his move for Crystal Palace, though. He finished last season as Newcastle’s top scorer, netting on a hugely impressive 23 occasions in the Championship, subsequently playing a big part in the club’s return to the top flight.

However, with Rafa Benitez having already highlighted his desire to land some much-needed reinforcements to the ranks, Gayle could be set for an exit in the closing stages of the window.

Gayle was excluded from the squad on Saturday as Newcastle clinched their first win of the season against West Ham.
