# Fenerbahce withdraw interest in Newcastle target Perez

Newcastle look to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

Turkish outfit Fenerbahce had held a serious interest in bringing Perez over to the Super Lig this summer, but they have opted to sign Roberto Soldado from Villarreal instead in recent days.

Now, according to Spanish news outlet [AS](https://futbol.as.com/futbol/2017/08/10/primera/1502350897_969373.html), they have ended their interest in experienced Arsenal forward Perez, leaving him with two known potential destinations – Deportivo La Coruna and [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/).

It’s claimed in the report that Perez himself would favour a move back to his homeland, and specifically with Deportivo. However, the [La Liga](https://readlaliga.com/) side are reluctant to pay the full extent of Perez’s asking price. Arsenal reportedly value their £17m signing from last summer at £13.4m.

Rafa Benitez admitted to being interested in Perez recently, and with Newcastle on the lookout for a new striker, news of Fenerbahce’s withdrawal from the race to sign Perez will be a big boost.
