Newcastle have bid rejected for Stoke striker
Newcastle have had a bid for Stoke City striker Joselu rejected.
According to a report from the Stoke Sentinel today, the Magpies’ offer for the Spaniard was ‘derisory’, and the Potters have had no second thoughts in turning down their opening bid.
Joselu was looking all but set for a summer exit but after hitting form early on in pre-season, it looks as though he has impressed Mark Hughes and could be given a chance to stake his claim for a starting berth this season.
The experienced forward spent the duration of last season in his homeland, on loan to La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna.
Joselu showed signs of promise in his maiden season with Stoke, as he notched four goals in just ten starts, along with 12 substitute appearances.
However, with Stoke waiting for an improved bid from Newcastle, it looks as though Rafa Benitez is keen to have his compatriot at St James’ Park this season.
