The report claims that the Newcastle board are in talks to sign Correa, along with Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

Rafa Benetiz is keen to strengthen his attacking options and is interested in bringing the Atletico forward to the Premier League.

Although, a deal is not far down the line, with Correa featuring for Madrid in their Audi Cup final against Liverpool at the time of writing.

The 22-year-old has played 58 league matches for Atletico since joining the club in 2014 from San Lorenzo.

The forward has only netted nine times in those 58 games, but has operated in a number of positions – including out wide and in midfield.

If the club are unable to secure a deal for the Argentine international, Arsenal striker Lucas Perez appears to be there other option.

The Spaniard is set to leave Arsenal this summer after they completed the signing of Alexandre Lacazette,
