# Newcastle plot loan move for striker after baulking at price

Newcastle are interested in signing Lucas Perez from Arsenal this summer but are unwilling to meet the club’s £13.4 million price tag.

[The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-want-134m-for-lucas-perez-as-newcastle-united-enter-race-for-striker-a3600446.html) reports that Rafa Benitez is keen to bring the Spaniard in on loan, but faces competition from La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna.

Perez has been left frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities and has found himself left on the substitutes bench for the majority of his time at Arsenal.

Arsenal signed Perez for £17 million but he has found it difficult to break into the first team, with [Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/) ready to give him his chance in the [Premier League](https://readpl.com/).

The Spaniard is said to prefer a move back to Spain and Deportivo had a £9 million offer rejected by the Gunners, who are determined to get the sum which they value him at.

Arsene Wenger claims that Perez is still in his plans for the new season but the forward himself wants to move.
