Two clubs battle for out of favour Newcastle man

Rather surprisingly, Newcastle United striker Emmanuel Riviere is a wanted man this summer.

The Frenchman is set to be offloaded by Rafa Benitez in the near future as the Spaniard looks to clear out the deadwood in his squad. However, it was looking as though it would be difficult to sell on Riviere, due to a shortage in demand.

However, according to the Chronicle today, two clubs are battling it out for his signature. French side Metz are reportedly interested in landing the striker, while Turkish outfit Osmanlispor are also keen to lure Riviere to the Super Lig ahead of next season.

The former Monaco man has not enjoyed the success he had hoped for at Newcastle and it comes as no surprise to see Benitez looking around for new striking reinforcements, with Riviere poised for an exit.

The Magpies will be looking to put the funds from Riviere’s likely sale towards their recruitment as they gear up for the Premier League’s kick-off in two weeks’ time.
