Reports in Portugal today have suggested that Newcastle are edging ever closer to the signing of Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris.
According to newspaper O Jogo, as cited by Sport Witness, the Magpies are closing in on a compromised deal with the Portuguese giants, and have agreed personal terms with Samaris himself.
Newcastle have been linked with a move for the Greek international for some time now, and it looks as though they have stepped up their apparent interest in the midfielder.

Samaris reportedly has an offer worth €2.5m per year on the table from Newcastle, which is a significant increase on his current income at Benfica. So, inevitably, the player appears to be keen on the move to England.
Although a fee doesn’t appear to be agreed between the two clubs just yet, it’s likely that a deal can be struck for around €15m along with additional bonuses for the 28-year-old’s signature this summer.
