# Newcastle linked with Peru international

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Benfica winger Andre Carrillo this summer.

According to a report from Portuguese news outlet O Jogo, as cited by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/newcastle-united-join-race-peruvian-international-good-opportunity-double-deal/) today, the Magpies have identified the Peru international as the perfect man to strengthen their attacking options.

Rafa Benitez is evidently keen to bolster his reinforcements ahead of his side’s return to the Premier League, and Carrillo would certainly provide some pace out wide.

The experienced winger has been linked with a whole host of top flight clubs this summer, and Newcastle are the latest side to be touted with a move for him. Crystal Palace, Stoke, Huddersfield and Watford have all also been cited with interest in the wide man.

Benfica are claimed to be keen on offloading Carrillo on a temporary basis in order to get him off the wage bill for the time being, and Newcastle may be poised to make a loan move for the former Sporting CP man.
