# Manchester City winger ‘an option’ for Newcastle

Newcastle United are reportedly exploring the possibility of loan moves for Premier League youngsters this summer, and according to the [Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-uniteds-big-deals-should-13382168), Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts is an option.

The youngster spent last season on loan at Scottish champions Celtic and produced some hugely impressive displays. He netted on 17 occasions in all competitions under Brendan Rodgers, and has seemingly caught the eye of several Premier League clubs. Southampton have recently been linked with a loan move.

Given Manchester City’s plethora of attacking options, it’s unlikely that Roberts will feature as often as he’d like next term. This has prompted Pep Guardiola to ponder another temporary spell away from the Etihad for his young winger.

The 20-year-old will be keen to test himself at the top level of English football and with Rafa Benitez keen to bolster his attacking options this summer, St James’ Park could prove to be the ideal fit for Roberts ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
