Newcastle United are reportedly keen to land RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi this summer.
Rafa Benitez is evidently interested in bolstering his shot stopping options in this window as he prepares his squad for their return to the Premier League, and Gulacsi is a name under consideration, according to ESPN.
The Spanish manager will know the goalkeeper from his time at Liverpool many years ago, where he managed the Hungarian ‘keeper in his younger days.
Gulacsi was signed by Benitez when he was just 17-years-old, so the Magpies boss knows just what the Hungary goalkeeper is capable of.
Newcastle are keen to provide competition for Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot this summer, and a move for Gulacsi would certainly bolster the options at Benitez’s disposal.
The 27-year-old enjoyed an impressive season with RB Leipzig last term and was important in their qualification for the Champions League.
Therefore, it’s likely that they’ll put up a fight to keep hold of their first choice goalkeeper.
