Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in recent times, and new reports from the Mirror suggest that while he is keen to depart the King Power Stadium this summer, he fears he will be priced out of a move.
Slimani didn’t enjoy his first year in English football, and was used mainly as a backup option near the end of the season.
His big money move from Sporting CP promised exciting things for him and the Foxes, but he failed to really impose himself on the Premier League and was underwhelming in his maiden season on English turf.
Slimani made just 13 starts in the top flight for Leicester, and Craig Shakespeare is willing to let the Algerian target man leave this summer.
Rafa Benitez will be hoping, like Slimani, that the Foxes don’t slap too large a price tag on their club-record signing.
