Newcastle are being linked with yet another goalkeeper, with PSG’s Alphonse Aréola the latest to be touted with a switch.
According to a report from the printed edition of France Football today, as covered by Sport Witness, the Magpies are plotting a swoop said to be worth around €15m.
Newcastle appear to be keen on landing a shot stopper this summer as they prepare themselves for life back in the Premier League, and Areloa would certainly be a clever acquisition.
The Frenchman only featured sporadically for PSG last term under Unai Emery, with the former Sevilla boss struggling to identify a clear first choice goalkeeper between him and Kevin Trapp.
This could lead to Areola seeking a way out of Ligue 1 this summer, and English football may be the perfect next step for his natural progression.
Areola has just two years remaining on his current deal with PSG, and a move away does not seem to be overly unrealistic.
