Newcastle in talks to sign £20m rated relegated winger

Newcastle United are in talks to sign Adama Traore from Middlesbrough this summer, according to reports from the Chronicle.

The Boro winger is expected to leave the club following their relegation back to the Championship.

The former Barcelona man is believed to be valued at somewhere in the region of £20 million.

In the past, the winger has been linked with moves to both Chelsea and West Ham, but it’s unclear how serious their interest in the player is.

Ahead of their return to the Premier League Rafa Benitez is keen to add strength to his wide areas. Benitez has already sanctioned a deal to sign Christian Atsu, who impressed whilst on loan from Chelsea, permanently this summer.

Middlesbrough do hold an interest in Newcastle’s Karl Darlow, who is free to leave St James’ Park this summer, and could potentially be used as a bargaining chip to lower Traore’s asking price.
