Newcastle have been linked with a move for Bas Dost in recent days by the Portuguese press, and the rumours don’t appear to be dying down.
Just days ago, it was reported that Dost was the subject of a bid worth around €40m from the Magpies. However, Sporting CP are not budging on their €60m valuation of the forward, and the apparent offer was turned down.
Jornal de Notícias, who were the first outlet to break the news about Newcastle’s reported club record bid for Dost before the bigger Portuguese publications backed the story, have today claimed that the Magpies are readying an offer that Sporting can’t refuse, as per a report from Sport Witness.

Realistically speaking, it’s unlikely that Newcastle are willing to cough up anywhere close to the €60m valuation that Sporting hold for their striker, who netted 37 goals last season.
However, it looks as though there is interest, and Rafa Benitez may be keen to add the talisman this summer.
