Newcastle United are interested in signing Coventry City striker George Thomas, according to the Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Swansea City, Burnley and Leicester City, with the latter reported to have made a £450,000 bid for the youngster.
Over four seasons at Coventry, the Welshman has scored seven goals in 36 appearances for the Midlands side, who could not escape relegation from League One last season.
As Thomas is reportedly out of contract, Coventry will be due compensation, however clubs have approached them to try to reach a deal, trying to avoid the transfer situation going to a tribunal.
Newcastle are trying to prepare themselves for life back in the top-flight of English football, after winning the Championship on the last day of the season.
Rafa Benitez hasn’t had the best of luck in the transfer window so far, with the club missing out on key targets, leaving the Spaniard with a bitter taste. The Magpies will be hoping that the tables will turn, as they look to lure hot-prospect Thomas to the North-East.
