Newcastle defender Paul Dummett is reportedly on the radar of Stoke City this summer.
According to a report from the Mirror today, the Welshman has emerged as a target for Mark Hughes as he aims to bolster his defensive options ahead of the coming season.
The 25-year-old was a regular in Rafa Benitez’s title-winning side last season in the Championship but he is now being touted with a move elsewhere.
It’s claimed by the Mirror that Dummett is awaiting a contract offer from the Magpies, with his intention being to stay with the club ahead of what promises to be an exciting first campaign back in the big time.
However, if a deal isn’t put on the table for the Wales international, there could be a temptation to move, with Stoke seemingly keen.
Dummett’s versatility will be key for the Magpies next season, along with his top flight experience, so it’s sure to be in Newcastle’s best interests to keep hold of the defender.
