Newcastle United’s deal to bring Afriyie Acquah to St James’ Park this summer is ’90 percent complete’, according to a report on the Mirror, as cited by Calcio Mercato .
The 25-year-old is expected to join Rafa Benitez’s side who are in the market for Premier League quality following their promotion to the top-flight at the first time of asking.
Acquah, a technical but hard working midfielder was a regular for large spells of the season for Torino, alongside England international Joe Hart.
The price Newcastle will pay for the player is not yet clear, but having only joined the club in 2015 from Hoffenheim for €3 million, Torino will at least want their money back and possibly make some profit on the player.
The player had dismissed reports of a move to Newcastle on Twitter, despite then following the club’s official account. He claimed that reports that he said a deal was ‘90% done’ were false, and posted a video that explained that, but in fact, it only backed up reports that he wanted to move to the Premier League.
