# Swansea join Newcastle in pursuit of England U21 star

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is a man in demand this summer, and it looks as though Swansea City are the latest side to express an interest in the Newcastle target.

According to a report from the [Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/15347466.Newcastle_United_line_up_move_for_Liverpool_s_Lucas_Leiva/), the Swans have joined the race to land the England Under-21 international as he continues to impress.

Last season was a hugely successful one for Abraham, with him finishing the season as Bristol City’s top scorer, playing a huge part in keeping them afloat during his loan spell.

Now though, the young forward has set his sights on playing regular football in the Premier League, meaning that Chelsea will be keen to loan him out.

Swansea will need more attacking flair next season and Abraham would offer a new dimension, but Fernando Llorente is undoubtedly Paul Clement’s first choice striker.

However, Newcastle remain strongly positioned to land Abraham, given their known, long-term desire to recruit him.

Brighton have also confirmed their interest.
