Club officials travel to hold talks with Newcastle striker

Club officials from Besiktas will travel to England to hold talks over a deal to sign Aleksander Mitrovic, according to Turkish-Football.

The Serbian striker has been linked with a move away from St James’ Park this summer as the Magpies look to build for Premier League football.

Fellow Turkish side Fenerbahce have also been credited with an interest in the striker, who scored four league goals for Newcastle last season, playing a bit-part role for the club.

It is believed that Besiktas have an advantage in negotiations through the form of Mitrovic’s agent Nenad Jestrovic, who used to play in Turkey.

Newcastle are also looking at bringing in Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on a season-long loan deal after beating off competition from Brighton.

The club may well need to sell to further strengthen their squad as they return to the top flight of English football at the first time of asking.
